Halal Meat Without Your Knowledge or Consent

Recently, it came to my attention that some of the very few meats we purchase may actually be ritually slaughtered in the name of Allah. We produce most of our own meat here, but due to my back problems, we haven’t raised meat chickens in awhile. We’ve been buying chicken breasts from the store from time to time…No more. No more at all.

Evidently, Tyson and Perdue as well as Butterball turkeys, are all done halal. These can receive halal certification from companies providing it, and then it would receive one of a myriad of little stamps that have mark of the certifying entity on the package. But it doesn’t really have to have that stamp…that is just more of a marketing scheme for Sharia law. The bad thing is that Christians are clearly prohibited from eating halal food in Acts 15:20 and Acts 15:29 and also, those of Hebraic faith are additionally prohibited from consuming this kind of meat as referenced in Revelation 2:14 recounting the story of Balak in the Tanak (Old Testament).

So, having a bag of Great Value chicken breasts in the freezer and being completely incapable of getting an answer from WalMart about whether or not they are slaughtered and prayed over in the name of Allah, has been a nightmare. Two weeks and still no actual answer. Nevermind that they are fed a steady diet of antibiotics and GMO’s -which are no good for anyone, but adding insult to injury, is not being allowed to know if they are literally able to meet halal certification.

Two weeks, and no answer. I wrote the “Global Integrity and Ethics department. They told me, after a week, that it wasn’t an ethical issue. I disagree, but, okay. They recommended I talk to the local store manager. So I tried, but the store manager wouldn’t call me back. So we talked to corporate on the phone and were finally given a name of the frozen food processor who provided the particular bag of chicken breasts we have in the freezer. But that company isn’t existent on the internet.

So, long story short, we are quickly raising up a bunch of meat birds for ourselves and some friends who are also disgusted by the idea of eating things that are ritually sacrificed to Allah.

Now, I do NOT care if grocer’s want to offer a halal section. As long as it is marked as such, I have no problem with it. That is just fine by me, and I think it would be just fine with most people. I simply want to be able to avoid it. Having discovered that Tyson is on the halal certified “okay” list and that they are happy to be halal is a serious issue. (Don’t get me started on the anti-trust and monopoly issues…Grr.)

In my research, I found that outside of meat, halal certification simply means it is permitted to be eaten by those of the Islamic faith. Even in meat, they consider Christian and Kosher slaughter to be completely permissible in their dietary restrictions. So in reality, while I have no problem with those of Islamic faith having clearly labeled halal meat, there is actually not any need for it to exist. They do not actually require that meat be prayed over in the name of Allah. But, for meat to be “halal” it must be prayed over in the name of Allah, and it must be killed by the blood running out of a throat slit all the way across, but not severing the head entirely. There seems to be some disagreement in Islam about that in chickens.

At any rate, this is something that I think people should be aware of as I presume there may be many who do not wish to eat any halal meat. I’m aware that it doesn’t bother a lot of people, and for those who it doesn’t bother, okay.

Here is an article by Pamela Geller on the issue -Please click on the bold type to go to the article:

This is an outrage. If the roles were were reversed and it was Muslims being ignored, Muslims whose dietary religious traditions being violated, all hell would break loose.

Pamela Geller: USDA Ignores AFDI Petition to Require All Halal Meat Be Labeled as Such

A great deal of meat sold in this country is halal but is not labeled is such. It’s a scandal — but an established practice: meat packers generally do not separate halal meat from non-halal meat, and do not label halal meat as such. We attempted to right that wrong. But the U.S. Department of Agriculture has for four years now ignored, shelved, or just plain refused to rule on our petition.

As many Americans do not, for a variety of reasons, wish to eat halal meat, back in February 2012, my organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), filed a citizen petition with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, asking that a regulation be enacted to ensure that all halal food be clearly labeled as halal. In April 2012, we agreed not to publicize our petition in order to give the agency some space to review the document without any pressure from the public.

On May 11, 2012, we had a face-to-face meeting in the USDA offices with top FSIS officials. We discussed this petition and the need for halal meat to be clearly labeled. Present at this meeting was Dan Engeljohn, a longtime USDA official who is now Assistant Administrator for the Office of Policy and Program Development (OPPD) in the FSIS. This position makes him responsible for FSIS regulations.

Engeljohn and company have now had four years to rule on our petition. They’ve done absolutely nothing.

As far back as October 2010, I reported on little-noted but explosive revelations that much of the meat in Europe and the United States was being processed as halal without the knowledge of the non-Muslim consumers who bought it.

Then in November 2011, I penned an article that caused a firestorm across the political spectrum, revealing that Butterball turkeys were all halal, but were not labeled as such. Heads exploded on the left – not over Butterball’s deception, but over my having the audacity to reveal it. And the clueless and compromised on the right were enraged as well: John Podhoretz tweeted, “I’d tell Pamela Geller to put a sock in it, but the sock might be halal.”

I was, of course, excoriated as a racist Islamophobic anti-Muslim bigot. In reality, however, we have no objection to halal meat being sold, as long as it is clearly labeled as such, and as long as non-halal meat is available. Meat that is halal must be labeled as such.

Our petition regarding ritual slaughter was posted on the FSIS website on February 14, 2012. It was a “ritual slaughter” petition that applied to all types of ritual slaughter: kosher, halal, etc. Every type of ritual slaughter holds some type of concern for some segment of the consuming public. We were not asking the USDA to single out a specific type of slaughter when dealing with this issue; our petition did not single out one type of ritual slaughter over another, nor did it wish to discriminate against a specific religious group.

We just wanted all meat that had been ritually slaughtered to be clearly labeled to that effect. Kosher meat is routinely marked accordingly; why not halal meat?

Our petition has since been taken down from the FSIS site, but here is a screenshot via the wayback machine.

This is strictly a false labeling and consumer choice issue. Religious people – Jews, Muslims, and others — should have the freedom to have meat and poultry products produced in a way that meets their needs. Conversely, consumers who don’t wish to consume ritually slaughtered products have a right to sufficient labeling information.

Under the current system, ritually slaughtered meat and poultry is not sufficiently labeled for consumers to be able to choose exactly what they want. Labeling can be misleading and untruthful in what it does not say if key facts are omitted. Consumers should have the ability to be able to choose for themselves if they want to eat ritually slaughtered products. Some Christians see the New Testament prohibiting the consumption of meat sacrificed to idols, and some would view halal meat as meeting that definition. But under current law, they have no way to avoid eating it.

Just as those who buy meat and poultry products labeled halal or kosher should have a reasonable expectation that the meat they’re buying was actually produced in that manner, so also those of us who don’t want to eat halal meat for whatever reason should also have a reasonable assurance that meat not labeled halal was not actually slaughtered in accordance with Sharia rules. As halal slaughter increases in the US, the likelihood of unknowingly buying meat sacrificed under the present system also increases.

This is a matter of simple justice and common sense. So why is the USDA stonewalling on our petition?

I think you hit upon something that could very easily go viral DH.

I don’t personally have a problem with eating halal meat, but I have a HUGE issue of being deceived. Particularly when it is a globalist corporation such as Walmart doing the deceiving.

Going to go back and read the rest. My attention span is not that great in the Internet age. 🙂

Just for the record…… if Muslims are counting on big-agri to do the halal thing correctly, I think that they would be shocked if they looked into how this is actually being adhered to. Big-Agri screws everyone infidel or Muslim it doesn’t matter to them at all.

    Your an idiot.

Islam is an Abrahamic religion, the process of halal is the same as kosher for jews, but muslims are ok mixing meat and cheese.

It’s a simple prayer to God, who you call God the Father.

      No “your” an idiot.

      Islam is satanic.

They do not worship the Elohim of the Bible, but a sham with the name of “lord” in Arabic.

YHVH is the name of the God of the Bible. And He clearly instructs His followers to not consume things dedicated to false gods like allah. In both the OT and the NT.

Others can do what they want, but I will not eat meat sacrificed to idols.

Just to quickly throw in some thoughts….
Not all christians interpret nor practice “Christianity” the same way.
That is apparent with over 200 christian denominations and each person’s personal views making millions of versions of Christianity.

Following much of what is in “scripture” would get one labeled a terrorist and locked up.The same goes for Islam. I am certain that many practice a benign form of Islam.

BUT I am convinced that the globalist have made Islam their latest controlled asset. Pushing Islam in general in the direction of violence in order to create the conflicts that will cause the dumbed down American public to beg for a New World Order. That is their stated plan. (Christianity is also IMHO largely controlled by the powers that be, but that is another discussion for another day)

That is not to say that Islam in general is benign. Much of it in it’s present form is very dangerous. But so is “christianity”. My thesis is that the absolute trampling of my rights in this country are the direct result of the approximately 200 million “christians” that either as “useful idiots” vote these things in, or let them happen due to their apathy (Just like christians did in Nazi Germany) For the record I do not see the American Islam population as being big enough yet to do the damage to our rights that American “christians” have already caused and many support. There is no arguing with these obvious facts IMHO. Up to this point in time Contemporary US christian’s have done much more that American Muslims to destroy my God given liberties in this country.

*** For the record this POS software called WordPress still will not let me log in as mpf@missourifreepress.com.I have probably 8 hours tied up in just trying to make this crap work…don’t get me started on the abysmal state of software.

I hear you about WordPress. I have yet to unravel the hijacking of our other site. But I have to admit that I have little patience in dealing with coding and program stupidity. I prefer physical adjustments. lol.

The issue is really that Islam is not so much a religion as it is a political ideology wrapped in a religion marinated in the destruction of everything decent and good. Sharia law is the real issue, and this “halal” labeling, that by the dictates of Islam itself, is completely unnecessary. is a huge part of Sharia law.

The idea is the same as the loss of liberty that Americans are accustomed to in seeking things like permission to travel, work, purchase certain things, carry firearms…WITHOUT permission slips from those who think they can take those rights away for paperwork infringements, is exactly the same.

I have a legitimate objection, historically, and logically. I truly do NOT care what other people choose to do. But I definitely take exception to giving in to Sharia law without allowing the majority of us in America, who do not care to follow Sharia, any say in the matter whatsoever.

Also, I do not appreciate being turned into a cannibal without knowledge. (Senomyx) Nor do appreciate unclean genetically modified organisms without any notice of such.

I hear ya’. I am not a fan of Islam either, but demonizing all Muslims is not the way to go, even if that were a correct assumption. (Education is the way to go)

As an aside: I think that the proper reading of scripture would make Christianity a political movement. A movement to bring freedom and God given liberty to all people. To create God’s kingdom here on earth. Doesn’t the greatest commandment (to love one another) tell us to work to unlock the shackles of criminal, God givens rights trampling, illegitimate government? Din’t God warn the Israelite multiple times about the evil of a king? (yet dumb Christians use Romans 13 to almost worship the evil entity that God, and the founders, warned us about)

Contemporary Christians IMHO are at the root of this problem, with the issues with Muslims being the direct result of Christians refusing to address the criminal, satanically led government that we now have. A major reason that this has transpired is that a large part of the Christian world view and beliefs are Satanic infiltration of Christianity from top to bottom. i.e Take the “Christian” belief that Sunday is the Sabbath. Where in scripture is this stated? The 7 day week was not even invented when God gave Moses this commandment! How much more satanic can you get than fooling (my people perish for lack of knowledge) God’s people into observing the sabbath on the wrong day? Lots and lots of other examples. How about the support for moral relativism by Christians?i.e.they support “police” having different rights than you and I do. It just so happens that this Christian belief is a plank of the Church of Satan!

How about the commandment not to steal. Yet every Christian that I know thinks nothing of “borrowing” tens of thousands of dollars from a fractional reserve bank. Becoming part of diluting the money supply and stealing from your neighbor in the amount that you borrowed. If you don’t follow, which most will not, I suggest that you begin to learn how the world works rather than rereading and rereading scripture. If you don’t understand the way the world works then you can not apply the principles laid out in scripture!! Again we come back to “my people perish for lack of knowledge”. It all comes down to the fact that as a whole contemporary Christians are a bunch of dumb asses, that hold major culpability in allowing demonic evil to run this world.

How does this jive with the greatest commandment?

Just FYI, I appreciate your concern and agree that you should be given all the information about what you consume. On a separate note, I feel compelled to tell you that you’ve been gravely misinformed about what is halal for Muslims. Muslims actually do need to know whether their meat is halal. Muslims are not allowed to eat any meat slaughtered by Christians or Jews. Halal does not simply refer to who slaughtered it. It refers to how it was slaughtered. It must be done by human hand. All Tyson products are slaughtered by machine, automatically making it haram, not halal. They can market it as halal all they want, but it’s not. Secondly, the words “in the name of God” must be said before the animal is slaughtered. This is something a machine is certainly not doing. Again, I understand your concerns. However, I think it’s important to ensure that your information is correct. Btw, your Great Value chicken is produced by Tyson, and Tyson most certainly is not halal. They only claim to be because they kill the chicken by cutting the neck, which does not a halal slaughter make. Hope this helps. As a Muslim, I hope you understand that I appreciate your right to practice your religion.

This is really a non-issue. According to the quoted verses, you are prohibited from eating that which was slaughtered in the name of idols. Allah is not an idol. It is the Arabic word for God Almighty. Arab Christians use the word Allah to refer to God in Arabic Bibles.

What’s written in the Qur’an is pretty similar to the Bible verses you quoted.

He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] – then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

    -Sura An-Nahl, Verse 115

    I think there’s been a misunderstanding.

You are free to think what you want, but in my opinion and according to Torah, Allah, which simply means “the god”, is completely an idol.

And according to what is available on Islamic restrictions, there isn’t any need at ALL for Halal certification. You are allowed to eat meat that is kosher, or not even kosher, but not “unclean” according to your religion’s dictates. It needn’t be actually slaughtered according to the halal requirements.

However, do NOT presume to tell me how to read the Scriptures that I follow. An idol is any god aside from YHVH. And Allah is not YHVH.

I am completely willing to let you live peaceably and follow your religion peaceably. I am NOT willing to consume food dedicated to your god. I wouldn’t desire to cause you to consume things you deem reprehensible either.
