Gardasil Recall

The CDC says people should keep taking this vaccine. It’s actually killed quite a few and made many, many ill, but please, continue to allow yourself to be injected with their crap. The CDC is the same group that applied major governmental mathematics to take 21 illnesses from raw milk and turn it into 20,000 illnesses. More on that later…Here’s an article regarding the recall. Please note they are admitting to it having glass particles in the vaccine, amongst the other goodies.

Merck is issuing a voluntary recall of one lot of Gardasil vaccines due to the risk that some vials of the vaccine may contain glass particles, according to a statement released today by the pharmaceutical company.

The company estimates that only 10 of the 743,360 vials in the lot may have been affected by the incident, which was the result of a breakdown in production.  A medical assessment conducted by Merck concluded that if a patient were to receive one of the contaminated vaccines, they had a “remote risk” of experiencing a reaction at the injection site.

This lot of vaccines was distributed between August 20, 2013 and October 9, 2013. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that it purchased 350,000 doses of Gardasil from this lot for their own vaccination programs.

“Vaccines from the affected lot were distributed between August 20, 2013, and October 9, 2013. No other lots are affected,” the agency said in a statement released Friday. “People who have recently received an HPV vaccine or their parents do not need to take any action as a result of this recall.  If a vaccine containing glass particles (tiny enough to get through a needle) is given to a patient, mild reactions routinely seen after vaccination may occur (for instance, redness or swelling at the injection site).”

So far, no injuries have been reported related to the contaminated vaccines, according to the CDC. People who received a vaccine from the contaminated lot do not need to be revaccinated, and the sterility of the vaccine was not affected, according to Merck.

Merck said it is in the process of contacting customers who purchased vaccines from this lot, # J007354, which was distributed in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Gardasil protects against certain strains of human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause cervical cancer in women. The CDC added that it continues to recommend that all preteen girls and boys receive three doses of the vaccine at age 11 or 12 years old.

Here We Go Again…Missouri Rabbit troubles and Humane Society

Velma Muessemeyer will be in Court in Franklin County Missouri on December the 17th. I do not yet have the address and time for her combination hearing and trial. The Missouri Humane Society and Franklin County Sheriff Deputies seized all of the animals on her property on allegations of abuse and/or neglect. While I haven’t seen nearly enough pictures, I have seen several of the rabbits that are reported to have been mistreated. What I saw looked quite good. Now the property is junky looking, but that isn’t indicative of animal neglect, cruelty, or abuse. More truthfully, that is a reflection of limited financial resources.

I’m going to post a bunch of links to articles on this issue. I ask that you pay particular attention to the appearance of the animals, and not focus on the fact that workmanship and new equipment is obviously lacking. For those who know rabbits, look at their hocks, their ears, their overall appearance and let me know if you think they look like they have been lacking feed. Same with the goats in the Humane Society of Missouri’s video. The pen is either freshly strawe or shows an abundance of hay being fed out to the goats. The goats are in very good flesh and I see no snotty noses or ribs showing on them at all. Just focus on the animals, as they are the object of these allegations against Muessemeyer. She isn’t being taken to court for “blight” or property maintenance code violations, but animal abuse and neglect.

I readily concede that I am looking at pictures here and have no first hand knowledge of this lady or her practices. I do however have lots of experience with rabbits, goats, dogs and chickens. While I may not manage mine the way Muessemeyer manages hers, the animals show no outward signs of neglect.

Here are a plethora of links. First videos:

More Evidence Grassfed is Better

The article below focuses not specifically on raw milk, but on a study that evidently clearly demonstrates that cattle on a grass diet produce milk that is far more healthy than the typical highly grained conventional dairy. Hopefully this will help more people to pay closer attention to their dairy choices….and give more of a push for dairy producers to go to grass systems. I feel like Martin Luther King, “I have a dream! I see a day, when small diversified farms replace the monoculture industrial ag systems that destroy initiative, and land, and food. I see a patchwork of small farms feeding the people and supporting honest labor, value and where feeding your neighbors isn’t a criminal act!” Wouldn’t that be nice? But I digress, Here is the article:

Is Organic Milk Worth It? Pricier Option Is Healthier Than Conventional Competition, Has Higher Levels Of Omega-3 Fatty Acids

A favorite for many country naturalists, raw unpasteurized milk is a grey market commodity, like venison or bear meat — with a hint of danger, à la food-borne illnesses. In the mainstream supermarket, however, organic (and pasteurized) milk offers the consumer a safer thrill, with newly discovered health advantages over conventionally produced milk.

In a new study, investigators from Washington State University compared organic and pasteurized milk throughout the United States, testing nearly 400 samples taken from an 18-month period. Whereas pasteurized milk scored an average omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio of 5.8, raw milk scored a much lower, healthier ratio of 2.3.

Charles Benbrook, the study’s lead investigator, said Monday the difference was made by a greater reliance on pastureland and forage-based feeds used by organic dairy farmers. As opposed to grain feeds, a preponderance of scientific evidence shows the superior benefits of feeding cows grass and legumes over an open pasture. However, the team didn’t expect to see such dramatic differences.

“We were surprised by the magnitude of the nutritional quality differences we documented in this study,” Benbrook said in a statement.

Although many naturalists, of course, spur dairy as unnatural, the category continues to grow. Organic milk and cream sales totaled $2.622 billion last year, within an organic food industry worth some $29 billion. Nationally, organic milk now accounts for 4 percent of milk sales, according to the Milk Processor Education Program.

Previous research has shown the risk of consuming diets with higher proportions of omega-6 fatty acids, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, excessive inflammation, and autoimmune diseases, with increasingly higher ratios bringing higher health risks. According to Benbrook, Westerners typically consume diets with ratios of 10-1 or even 15-1, compared to an ideal of 2.3-1 for maximum heart benefit.

Nearly 40 percent of that difference from average to ideal could be achieved by simply switching to organic milk, investigators say. A typical woman might replace three daily servings of conventional dairy products for 4.5 daily servings of mostly full-fat organic dairy products, taking care, too, to avoid other foods high in omega-6 fatty acids.

“Surprisingly simple food choices can lead to much better levels of the healthier fats we see in organic milk,” Benbrook said.

Even compared to fish, long touted as the omega-3 super food, organic milk is the densest source of the fatty acids, investigator Donald R. Davis said in the statement. “We were surprised to find that recommended intakes of full-fat milk products supply far more of the major omega-3 fatty acid, ALA, than recommended servings of fish,” he said.

In the study, conventional milk contained nine times as much ALA as fish, while organic milk contained even more — 14 times as much.

Hawaii Steps Towards No GMO’s

While one must wonder what the jurisdictional implications about this bill may be, it is still a positive and welcomed development. The Mayor of Hawaii County has signed a GMO restraining bill. Here’s the nuts and bolts of it according to the mayor:

HILO, Hawaii – Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi ended weeks of speculation on Thursday by signing into law the controversial genetically modified organisms prohibition bill that was passed by the Hawaii County Council.

Below is the message he sent to the Hawai’i County Council:

Billy KenoiMayor Billy Kenoi, Dec. 5, 2013

“Aloha, Chair Yoshimoto and Members:

On Nov. 19, 2013 the Hawai‘i County Council adopted Bill 113 Draft 3 adding a new article relating to Genetically Engineered Crops and Plants, and on Nov. 21, 2013 delivered the bill to me for my consideration. After careful deliberation and discussions with members of my administration and the public, I am signing Bill 113.

Our community has a deep connection and respect for our land, and we all understand we must protect our island and preserve our precious natural resources. We are determined to do what is right for the land because this place is unlike any other in the world. With this new ordinance we are conveying that instead of global agribusiness corporations, we want to encourage and support community-based farming and ranching.

The debate over this bill has at times been divisive and hurtful, and some of our hard-working farmers who produce food for our community have been treated disrespectfully. We are determined to protect every farmer and rancher. Agriculture on Hawai‘i Island will continue to grow with county assistance, investment and support. That commitment includes initiatives such as the public-private partnership to improve and expand the Pa‘auilo Slaughterhouse to support our grass-fed beef industry, and the launch of the Kapulena Agricultural Park, the largest agricultural park in the state on 1,739 acres of county-owned land. It also includes support for innovative training programs to grow the farmers of the future, and to train veterans to engage in agriculture on Hawaiian Home Lands, and the introduction and advancement of Korean Natural Farming as a sustainable method of producing healthier crops and livestock. It includes completion of the first-in-the-state Food Self-Sufficiency Baseline Study of Hawai‘i Island to measure the island’s progress toward food self-sufficiency.

We are determined to reunite our farming community to create a stronger and more vibrant agricultural sector. It is time to end the angry rhetoric and reach out to our neighbors. Our farmers are essential to creating a wholesome and sustainable food supply on this island, and they deserve to be treated with respect and aloha. We must turn now to a meaningful, factual dialogue with one another.

With my approval of this bill, our administration will launch a year of research and data collection to investigate factual claims and to seek out new directions that farming in our community should take. This work will include an expanded database detailing the locations of both organic and conventional farms, the crops that are grown, more accurate estimates of the revenue earned from these enterprises, and the challenges our farmers face in meeting food safety and organic certification requirements. We will work with our farmers and our ranchers to carefully monitor the impacts of this bill over the next year to separate speculation and guesswork from the facts.

Today our communities expect that government will be as cautious as possible in protecting our food and water supplies. We all want to minimize impacts to the environment while also producing abundant, affordable food for local consumption. This ordinance expresses the desires and demands of our community for a safe, sustainable agricultural sector that can help feed our people while keeping our precious island productive and healthy.

Aloha,

William P. Kenoi

It Cannot Be Food

I have a confession to make. A rather horrifying one, but nonetheless, in some way I hope you find it amusing and that it helps you avoid the same mistake.

A few weeks ago, my 9 year old was begging for a Happy Meal in hopes of getting a toy she really wanted. It was almost 2:30 and we hadn’t eaten any lunch yet and I caved. We pulled into the McDonald’s here in our small town and went on in.

Yummy?

I was looking at the menu and they had a picture of a mushroom burger that looked rather appetizing to me at the moment. However, I didn’t want to spend that much on something that would be disappointing, so I went with the dollar menu and ordered a “cheeseburger”. I think it may have been the double one, but whatever it was, it wasn’t food.

We got our order and sat down and prayed. We do that over all food, but this wasn’t food. It was more like praying to not get sick from eating the JC Penney catalog.

I opened up the burger and thought to myself, “Crud, I forgot to tell them no yellow mustard”. With a sigh, I took a bite. Unbelievable!

The “burger” tasted like shredded cardboard that had been mixed with half a beef bouillon cube and formed into a pancake of sorts before being put into the microwave. The cheese tasted like yellow half melted plastic and the bread for the bun was the grand finale of the experience. That wrapped up the entire taste extravaganza as a pile of wet paper towel slathered with a lot of ketchup and mustard to try to cover up the recycled paper product affect of the entire package.

I looked at my daughter and said, “Honey, this isn’t food.” She looked up from her Happy Meal and said, “Well, I like the fries, but other than that, not so much.”

We wrapped the recycled paper products up in the paper they came in and threw them into the trash as we left. And my daughter didn’t even get the toy she was hoping for. It might beat a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, but not by much.

NSA – 50,000 Cyber Sleeper Cells

This is the latest of the Snowden releases. While I am not against national security, America is flatly out of control on a global level. The citizens of the nation have allowed the government to hamstring us into being unable to produce without permission, threatening our physical security by being unable to feed and clothe ourselves due to policy; and US foreign policy for decades has been most similar to a rampaging bull on a rape spree. “We’re big, clumsy, and doing what we want because we can!” The US makes lots of friends that way, right?

Let’s sit back and watch to see if all the nations threatened by this cyber sleeper form of warfare by the NSA are going to be easily appeased by the Obama Administration. Here’s the article:

NSA Has 50,000 ‘Digital Sleeper Agents’ Via Computer Malware, Says Latest Snowden Leak

Sleeper agents are among the most sinister spy assets: they lie in wait, wolves in sheep’s clothing, and then deliver a critical blow when activated. The NSA has 50,000 of those waiting for the literal push of a button, according to the latest batch of leaked Snowden documents, as seen by Dutch daily evening newspaper NRC. But these aren’t people, like Keri Russel and Matthew Rhys in The Americans – these are computers, infected with malware and untroubled by conscience or the risk of going native.

The NSA reportedly infected 50,000 computer networks worldwide with malicious software with the sole aim of harvesting sensitive information it wasn’t privy to, which is basically what you’d call textbook spy work in the digital age, from an agency tasked with spying. That’s not to excuse or dismiss the significance of this revelation, but we’ve heard from the Washington Post previously that the NSA was working on this sort of thing and that at least 20,000 computers had been infected by the program as of 2008. So to hear from Snowden documents via the NRC that it’s now climbed to 50,000 is hardly surprising.

New details brought to light indicate that operations from its so-called “Computer Networks Exploitation” program are active around the world, and can remain active for many years without being detected in some parts of the world like Venezuela and Brazil. All the malware can we watched and controlled remotely, and turned on and off “with a single push of a button.” A New York Times report published yesterday also asserts that the NSA has been pushing to stretch its surveillance powers even further, with the aim of catching up to the spread and reach of digital technology and online communications.

The truly amazing thing about this is just how pedestrian the NSA’s efforts are – according to NRC, they’re essentially running the same kind of phishing scams with false email requests that you’ll see from any other purveyor of malicious software. As an example, NRC points to how the British GCHQ used false LinkedIn pages to lure and infect Belgacom network employees. Just one more good reason to never click on anything sent from anyone ever.

The ongoing NSA debacle is like a Breugel painting, with more and more detail emerging every time you look at it anew. Yahoo and Google’s networks were apparently compromised in a similar fashion, documents revealed in late October, and with up to 200,000 documents in total potentially taken by Snowden and shared with reporters, it’s unlikely we’re anywhere near seeing the whole picture at this point.

The NSA declined to comment on this story or the original report.

This is rather interesting news. A producer suing, and I am soooo hoping she wins, for the right to talk about her raw milk production. I will keep up on this case. Wouldn’t it be great if we were actually free here? Wow. That would be something.

Raw milk producer sues Oregon Department of Agriculture over advertising ban

christine_anderson_and_raw_milk_cow.jpg

An Oregon farmer filed a federal lawsuit against the Department of Agriculture on Tuesday in a bid to overturn the state’s decades-old ban on the advertising of raw milk.

Christine Anderson, owner of Cast Iron Farm in McMinnville, filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Portland, asking for a judgment that declares the ban a violation of free speech rights.

Oregon law forbids retail raw milk sales but allows farmers with a limited number of animals to sell unpasteurized milk directly to customers on-site. But the law bans any advertising, including website postings, fliers and emails.

Anderson says that ban infringes on her business.

“Raw milk is legal to sell but you can’t talk about it,” she said. “I work really hard, and I do a good job as a producer. I want to be able to talk about it. I would like to go about my small farm business without a lot of fear that what I’m doing can be construed as breaking the law.”

Katy Coba, director of the Department of Agriculture, is named in the suit as the sole defendant. She declined to comment.

Bruce Pokarney, the department’s spokesman, said agriculture officials did not enact the law but are responsible for enforcing it.

But he said raw milk is not a department priority.

“We haven’t gone out and looked for anybody who’s advertising raw milk,” Pokarney said. “But if we become aware of it … we’ll respond to somebody’s complaint.”

A complaint is exactly what led to the lawsuit, Anderson said. In August 2012, an Oregon Department of Agriculture inspector visited her farm over a complaint about a raw milk price list on her website. The inspector told Anderson that constituted advertising, which is banned under the law.

Anderson took it down. She later received a cease and desist order from the department, she said, telling her to stop selling raw milk cheese. Anderson said she doesn’t make cheese so that didn’t pose a problem for her. But she said the advertising ban means that she can’t put a sign in front of her property, indicating it’s a raw milk dairy, post fliers at local health food stores or promote her business at local fairs.

She said the ban hampers sales of the milk, which she sells for $14 a gallon.

The suit is backed by the Institute for Justice, a public interest law firm headquartered in Virginia. The group also filed two other lawsuits on Tuesday, one over Florida’s ban on front yard vegetable gardens and another against Minnesota’s restrictions on small food producers, as part of a nationwide “food freedom initiative.”

Anderson is not trying to change the ban on retail raw milk sales in Oregon, enacted in 1999. Before that raw milk dairies were inspected by the Department of Agriculture. But Oregon law has long required small producers to only sell on-site while barring them from advertising, agriculture officials said.

The exemption allows small producers such as Anderson to have up to three cows, nine sheep and nine goats and sell raw milk on the farm. For decades, the law has banned small farms from advertising, agriculture officials said.

Under the law, a farmer who violates the ban is subject to a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail, $6,250 in fines and civil penalties up to $10,000, the lawsuit says.

The law aim to limit access to raw milk, widely considered by health officials to be a high-risk product.

In April 2012, nearly 20 people were sickened by unpasteurized milk produced at Foundation Farm near Wilsonville. Oregon Public Health officials confirmed that the milk was contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly strain. Four children were hospitalized in the outbreak, including three children who were put on kidney support.

That outbreak was the sixth in Oregon traced to raw milk since 1996, said Jonathan Modie, spokesman for the Oregon Public Health Division. No one has died.

Anderson, who tests her cow’s milk monthly for harmful bacteria, acknowledged the health risks.

“Raw milk does contain the ability to make somebody sick,” she said. “I don’t want to debate the safety of it.”

Some Free Stuff!!!

For those who might be interested in getting their Kindle all loaded up with ebooks that will help in a collapse situation, you might like some of these freebies! Just remember to store your Kindle in an ammo can or something similar just in case an emp hits. Also make sure you have some batteries that are secure just in case. Since I have about 30 years of self reliance magazines like Countryside, Backwoods Home, and Mother Earth News as well as a a plethora of other books, I am keeping my fabulous Kindle out in the open where I can read it and not worry…..Maybe I should get an ammo can and keep it next to the bed so I can drop it in there before nodding off…Hmmm. Sounds like a good plan.

At any rate, I thought you might like some of these freebies and wanted to share. Blessings to you!

Destroying Ivory…Good idea?

The strikes me as very wrong headed. I am not for the ivory trade at all, but to me, destroying this ivory is like adding insult to injury. These animals were killed for the very thing that is going to be destroyed, and destroying it will likely only bring up the black market price of the raw product over all. So why not do something positive like spread them out amongst colleges for displays on the subject? Heck, why not admit that the reason we have this heinous practice is because we, the “civilized nations” decided to control Africa and make it all about “money” and not allow them the capacity to make money in less destructive ways? No….we’ll just destroy the only thing left of these animals and create a higher market price for the product. It makes me doubly sad…

Obama administration to destroy 6-ton ivory stockpile

The Obama administration is set to pulverize 6 tons of ivory with a rock crusher in a bid to send a worldwide message that the U.S. does not accept poaching.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will crush the ivory – which includes raw and carved tusks, ornaments and jewelry seized over the past 25 years — on Nov. 14 at the national wildlife repository in Denver, according to TIME.

“We are taking an important step next week, Daniel Ashe, the director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, said Tuesday. “We’re doing that in the hopes of raising the profile of this issue and also to try to inspire other nations around the world to deal with their stockpiles.”

The ivory crushing will be America’s first, but it only represents a fraction of the ivory that is available on the global market, TIME reports.

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wildlife Fauna and Flora said in 2011 illegal trade of ivory was at its highest level in two decades, fueled by demand from areas like East Asia and the involvement of criminal groups. Ivory trade generates an annual revenue of around $10 billion.

The African Conservation Act, passed by Congress in 1989, has largely banned imports and exports of ivory in the U.S., with shipments being seized at borders and ports.

How High Can it Go? National Debt increases 328 billion in a day

Another Trillion Dollars in Debt

Did you know that the U.S. national debt has increased by more than a trillion dollars in just over 12 months?  On September 30th, 2012 the U.S. national debt was sitting at $16,066,241,407,385.89.  Today, it is up to $17,075,590,107,963.57.  These numbers come directly from official U.S. government websites and can easily be verified.  For a long time the national debt was stuck at just less than 16.7 trillion dollars because of the debt ceiling fight, but now that the debt ceiling crisis has been delayed for a few months the national debt is soaring once again.  In fact, just one day after the deal in Congress was reached, the U.S. national debt rose by an astounding 328 billion dollars.  In the blink of an eye we shattered the 17 trillion dollar mark with no end in sight.  We are stealing about $100,000,000 from our children and our grandchildren every single hour of every single day.  This goes on 24 hours a day, month after month, year after year without any interruption.

Over the past five years, the U.S. government has been on the greatest debt binge in history.  Unfortunately, most Americans don’t realize just how bad things have gotten because the true budget deficit numbers are not reported on the news.  The following is where the U.S. national debt has been on September 30th during the five years previous to this one…

09/30/2012: $16,066,241,407,385.89

09/30/2011: $14,790,340,328,557.15

09/30/2010: $13,561,623,030,891.79

09/30/2009: $ 11,909,829,003,511.75

09/30/2008: $10,024,724,896,912.49

The U.S. national debt is now 37 times larger than it was 40 years ago, and we are on pace to accumulate more new debt under the 8 years of the Obama administration than we did under all of the other presidents in U.S. history combined.

Of course all of the blame can’t be placed at the feet of Obama.  During the last two elections the American people have given the Republicans a solid majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the government cannot spent a single penny without their approval.

Unfortunately, House Speaker John Boehner and the Republicans that are allied with him have repeatedly turned their backs on the people that gave the Republicans the majority and they have authorized trillions of dollars of new debt which will be passed on to future generations of Americans…

Since John Boehner became speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on Jan. 5, 2011, the debt of the federal government has increased by $3,064,063,380,067.72. That is more than the total federal debt accumulated in the first 200 years of the U.S. Congress–during the terms of the first 48 speakers of the House.

In fact, if all of that debt had been given directly to the American people, every household in America would have been able to buy a new truck

The $26,722 in new debt per household accumulated under Speaker Boehner would have been more than enough to buy every household in the United States a minivan or pickup truck–or to pay three years of in-state tuition (not counting room and board) at the typical state college.

Sometimes we forget just how much money a trillion dollars is.  In a previous article, I included some illustrations that I believe are helpful…

-If you were alive when Jesus Christ was born and you spent one million dollars every single day since that point, you still would not have spent one trillion dollars by now.

-If right this moment you went out and started spending one dollar every single second, it would take you more than 31,000 years to spend one trillion dollars.

We are doing the exact same thing that Greece did, only on a much larger scale.  What we are doing is not even close to sustainable, and it will inevitably end very, very badly.  The following is what Michael Pento, the president of Pento Portfolio Strategies, told RT the other day…

“That $17 trillion everybody says its 107 percent of GDP, that’s true. But who really cares about the percentage of GDP? It’s the percentage of the debt as a percentage of the revenue – its 700 percent of our revenue. Deficits are growing at 30 percent of our revenue every year added to the deficits we have already. So it’s unsustainable. What is going to happen eventually – a currency and bond market collapse! And it’s not going out 20 years, as I also heard someone mention. In 2016 we’ll probably be spending 40 percent of all of our revenue just to service our debt. That is what the interest payments will equal.”

The U.S. debt situation is so bad that even the Prime Minister of Cyprus is scolding us…

“The U.S. has been fortunate in the sense that it’s like a bank, it prints the money that other people accept. So you can live beyond your means over an extended period of time without being punished by the market.”

Unfortunately, we will not be able to live way beyond our means forever.  Reality is going to catch up with us at some point.

Right now, the rest of the world is lending us giant mountains of money at interest rates that are far below the real rate of inflation.  This is extremely irrational behavior, and this state of affairs will probably not last too much longer.

But if interest rates go up, it will absolutely cripple the U.S. economy.  For much more on this, please see this article.

And what would make things much, much worse is if the rest of the globe starts moving away from using the U.S. dollar.  At the moment, the U.S. dollar is the de facto reserve currency of the planet and this creates a tremendous demand for U.S. dollars and U.S. debt.

If that changes, it will be absolutely catastrophic for the United States, and unfortunately there are already lots of signs that this is already starting to happen.  I wrote about this in my recent article entitled “9 Signs That China Is Making A Move Against The U.S. Dollar“.

But don’t just take my word for it.  Just a couple of days ago a major U.K. newspaper came to the same conclusions…

China has overtaken the US as the world’s largest oil importer and goods trading nation. Over the next five years, it will surpass the rest of the world combined in its consumption of base metals.

Given the scale of the country’s consumption of fossil fuels and raw materials, it is only a matter of time before the renminbi replaces the dollar as the primary currency for trading commodities and resources such as crude oil and iron ore.

The debt ceiling farce in Washington and China’s growing reluctance to continue underwriting the US economy by buying up its bonds and adding to America’s near $17 trillion (£10.5 trillion) debt mountain suggests that this tectonic shift in the global trade system could be just around the corner.

So what will happen when the rest of the world decides that they don’t need to use our dollars or buy our debt any longer?

At that point the consequences of decades of incredibly foolish decisions will result in an avalanche of economic pain that the American people are not prepared for.
